A North Jersey man who apparently thought he hit a deer when he actually struck and killed a 12-year-old boy in 2019 has been found guilty in the child's death, authorities announced. A Union County jury found 39-year-old Jose Marrero guilty on charges relating to the Summer 2019 death of Jeremy Maraj in Union, Prosecutor William A. Daniel said. Boy, 12, Struck By Van In Union Wednesday Dies
A 12-year-old who was hit by a van near an intersection in Union Wednesday night has died, police said. The boy was struck by a driver who did not remain at the scene around 8 p.m. near Forest Drive and Galloping Hill Road. He was rushed to University Hospital in Newark in critical condition, where he died late Friday morning. The Union County Prosecutor's Office identified him as Jeremy Maraj.
