Update: One Dead, Two Wounded In Jersey City's First Homicide Of '24: Prosecutor
UPDATE (March 27): A Hoboken man was charged with murder and aggravated assault in a triple shooting in Jersey City earlier this month.
Authorities confirmed on Wednesday, March 27, that Joseph Del Valle, 36, was arrested by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit the day before.
He remained held in the Hudson County Correctional Facility along with a second accused gunman, Francisco Salcedo, 42, of Jersey City, they said.

A drug raid spanning several New Jersey towns turned up a stash of drugs — including heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine — with a street value of more than $15 million, and netted multiple arrests, police said.
Acting on court-ordered search warrants, the raids were conducted Thursday, Nov. 16 following a months-long investigation in Hoboken, Jersey City, Elizabeth, and Montclair, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.

Florida Man Convicted Of Killing Jersey City Dad In BJ's Parking Lot
A jury found a Florida man guilty of murder for killing a Jersey City dad in a BJ's parking lot in 2021.
Ariel Dumit, 37, was convicted on all counts, including first degree murder for the shooting death of Christian Parra, following a two-week trial, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced on Tuesday April, 18.
On Feb. 28, 2021, Dumit shot Parra in the torso at a BJ's parking lot at 396 Marin Blvd. in Jersey City, prosecutors said. Parra was later transferred to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, prosecutors said.

Arrests In Luz Hernandez Case: One Suspect Captured In Miami, 2nd Remains At Large
One person has been arrested and another remains at large in the case of slain Jersey City mom Luz Hernandez.
Cesar Santana, 36, was captured at a motel in Miami while Leiner Miranda Lopez, 26, was still being sought as of 12 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, on charges of desecrating/concealing human remains, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
The men were stopped by police on Sunday, Feb. 5 in Kearny, the day before the 33-year-old Kindergarten teacher was reported missing, Suarez said. Santana's vehicle was impounded by Kearny police because it was unregistered, the prosecutor said.

Men Who Killed 17-Year-Old Jersey City Girl Get Prison Time
A pair of men charged in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old Jersey City girl were sentenced to state prison on Friday Jan. 27, authorities said.
Alterik Ellis, 29, and Travis DeFoe, 32, both of Jersey City, were sentenced to 35 years in New Jersey State Prison for the 2018 shooting death of Jade Saunders in Jersey City, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.
Ellis and DeFoe were each convicted at trial of murder, theft and weapons offenses, Suarez said.

US Marshals Capture Pair In 16-Year-Old Jersey City Boy's 2021 Murder
Two men have been charged in connection with the March 2021 murder of a 16-year-old Jersey City boy, authorities announced Monday, Dec. 12.
Members of the US Marshals Service captured Khalil Kelley, 23, at his job in Hillside on Friday, Dec. 9, while Roger Pickett Jr., 22, was charged at the Hudson County Jail where he's detained on charges relating to a Nov. 1, 2022 shooting death, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
Both men are facing charges of murder and related offenses in connection with the March 29, 2021 shooting death of Kaheem Taylor, Suarez said.
