North Jersey Man Violates Restraining Order, Injures Officer On Long Island: Cops A New Jersey man is facing charges including assault and more after he allegedly broke a restraining order and later injured a police officer during his arrest. The Baldwin incident occurred on Saturday, July 13, according to Nassau County Police. At about 4:30 p.m. on that day, 36-year-old Horace Rattigan was allegedly in a verbal argument with a woman at Coes Neck Park, located at 1240 Coes Neck Road. Rattigan, an Essex County resident from the township of Montclair, stole the woman’s cell phone and fled the park on foot. Authorities located Rattigan nearby and attempted to arrest …

New York Kayaker Mourned After Death During Nor'easter Memorial services have been scheduled to honor the life of a Westchester County man who died after a powerful Nor'easter rolled in while he was kayaking on the Long Island Sound. Laurence Broderick, age 45, of Scarsdale, was reported overdue by his family on Tuesday, Oct. 26, after he left Hempstead en route to Mamamronek in his kayak at about 9 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, authorities reported.  He was found unresponsive by the US Coast Guard on Tuesday afternoon, and he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
