Investigators Probe Crash Involving Disgraced Former Elmwood Park Mayor, Police Car
The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a weekend crash involving former Elmwood Park Mayor Frank Caramagna and a borough police vehicle, Daily Voice has learned. Investigators were examining the contention that Caramagna, who resigned after being arrested on voter fraud charges earlier this year, made an illegal U-turn on Market Street, causing Sunday’s accident, authorities confirmed. Bergen's Most Lopsided 2019 Primary Win: Incumbent Upper Saddle River Mayor Crushes Upstart
Incumbent Upper Saddle River Mayor Joanne Minichetti easily defeated an upstart candidate Tuesday in one of only eight municipalities in Bergen County that had contested primaries. In the most convincing defeat of all of Bergen's primary races, Minichetti got 75% of the vote (525) to a meager 171 for Erik Friis in the borough’s Republican runoff, according to unofficial results from the county Board of Elections. Dan Golabek, 24, Sworn In As New Elmwood Park Mayor
Daniel Golabek was sworn in as the mayor of Elmwood Park Thursday. The 24-year-old former council president succeeds Frank Caramagna, who resigned after being charged with voter fraud last month. Golabek, a law student at Seton Hall University, has been coming to council meetings for 11 years. He was unanimously selected by the Council to assume the role. He was first elected in 2015 and is one of the youngest people to serve as mayor in New Jersey. Councilwoman Lorraine Pellegrine succeeds Golabek as council president.
