Bergen County Man, 31, Drowns In NY Lake During Family Outing
A man on an outing with his family at Harriman State Park drowned after jumping into the lake and swimming about 100 feet away. The incident occurred in Rockland County around 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 18, at Lake Sebago in Stony Point. According to Trooper Steven Nevel with the New York State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that Carlos G. A woman jumped to her death from an upper floor inside a busy Hudson Valley mall. Bomb Threat Clears Holy Name Medical Center
A bomb threat called into Holy Name Medical Center over the weekend was quickly deemed unfounded, authorities said. An unidentified caller reported a bomb threat to the hospital in Teaneck on Saturday, Aug. 17 around 4 p.m., Teaneck Police Chief Andrew R. McGurr said. "The threat was made by an unknown caller who provided non-specific details," said McGurr. The hospital was placed on divert, and a shelter-in-place order was implemented. Irvington Woman Convicted Of Killing Toddler In Her Care After Sharing Her Side Of Story
A 44-year-old Irvington woman was convicted of manslaughter on Friday, Aug. 9 in the death of a two-year-old child she was babysitting in 2021, authorities said. Claire Gelin was babysitting the victim from Feb. 15 to Feb. 19 in her Irvington apartment, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II said. The child sustained serious from physical abuse on Feb. 17 and Feb. 18, but Gelin did not call 911 until Friday, Feb. 19, Stephens said.
