Retired State Trooper Suffered Medical Episode Before Route 287 Crash: Family, Police The driver who died in a crash on Route 287 in Morris County this week has been identified as retired New Jersey State Trooper Kevin Hanrahan.  Hanrahan, 61, was heading north near milepost 31.4 in Harding Township around 9:05 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, when he ran off the road to the left and struck a metal guardrail, New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan said. Hanrahan was rushed to a hospital, where he later died, Marchan said. Hanrahan's son, Kevin, said he had suffered a medical episode. The van was headed south on Lincoln Avenue when it hit the pair, both 48 years old, near approaching Diamond Bridge Avenue around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Detective Lt. Matthew Hoogmoed. Both were taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening, the lieutenant said. Hawthorne Police Officer, Motorist Hospitalized After Crash A Hawthorne police officer and a motorist were hospitalized with injuries that responders said didn't appear life-threatening after a crash Saturday afternoon. The collision at the intersection of Diamond Bridge Avenue and Goffle Road sent a sedan down an embankment into Goffle Brook County Park. Hawthorne police, firefighters and EMS responded. A utility pole also was damaged. Both wrecked vehicles were removed from the scene by flatbed tow trucks. Boyd A. Loving contributed to this report.
