Basement Fire Quickly Doused In Ridgewood Ridgewood firefighters made quick work of a Tuesday morning basement blaze. The fire broke out in the utility room of the $3.6 million Crest Road home shortly before 10:30 a.m. April 25. Flooring and/or tile work apparently was being done on the house at the time, responders said. Two adults and a child who were home got out OK, and damage apparently was minimal, they said. The Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification collected valuable evidence from the area on Crest Road known as "The View" after village firefighters doused the blaze around 8 p.m. Sunday, Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke said.
