A car was struck by a train for the second time in the last eight days in Hackensack on Tuesday night, Dec. 3. The crash involved Pascack Valley Line Train #1633, which was scheduled to arrive in Spring Valley at 7:15 p.m., and happened on Anderson Street around 6:50 p.m. Have photos? Settlement Reached In Transformation Of Hackensack's Sears Building: Report
A settlement has been finalized in the transformation of Hackensack's longstanding and iconic Sears building, NorthJersey.com reports. After navigating through bankruptcy, as well as not one but two lawsuits, the plan for the nearly-century-old building is to construct 258 apartments while simultaneously conserving the primary tri-story tower, the outlet reports. Hackensack Police Detective Cracks Vehicle Burglary Spree
A Hackensack detective nailed a repeat offender who authorities said burglarized multiple vehicles within days of one another. Reggie Scott, 30, was arrested last week after Detective Massimo DiMartino linked him to three separate vehicle break-ins on Anderson Street from April 21 through April 26, thanks to area surveillance video, Detective Capt. A call of a person seen on the hood of a moving sedan brought police to the intersection of Anderson Street and Vanderbeck Place shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, Capt. Darrin DeWitt said. Man Plunges Six Floors From Window In Hackensack, Police Investigate
A 49-year-old man was hospitalized after apparently jumping out a 6th-floor window Saturday morning in Hackensack, authorities said. He was found unresponsive but breathing outside the Berkley Arms off Anderson Street shortly after 9:30 a.m., said Capt. Darrin DeWitt, the officer in charge of the department. An ambulance took him to Hackensack University Medical Center. Although no foul play was initially suspected, the area was treated as a crime scene and an investigation was continuing, the captain said.

: Burglars Steal ATMs After Smashing Into Bergen Check-Cashing Businesses
Burglars have been stealing ATM machines by smashing their way into check-cashing businesses in Bergen County, authorities said Monday. The bandits, who've been spotted in a dark-colored pickup truck, apparently used a sledgehammer to smash their way in through front glass doors, Hackensack Police Detective Lt. Ryan Weber said. Two burglaries occurred within minutes of one another in Hackensack between 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Weber said. Hackensack police who were tipped off by an alert resident captured a burglar moments after he broke into a church 'round midnight Wednesday, authorities said. A caller told police that the intruder – identified as Justin Draper, 24, of Anderson Street – had removed a window screen at First Presbyterian Church on Passaic Street and climbed in, Detective Capt. Hackensack PD: Man Struck Walking His Bicycle In Middle Of Road
A man walking his bicycle in the middle of a busy Hackensack street late Wednesday was struck and thrown over the hood of a Jeep whose driver was trying to avoid colliding with another vehicle, police said.
