Saddle River's Mary J. Blige Opens Red Sox Player Ortiz' Final Game

SADDLE RIVER, N.J. — Grammy-award winning artist Mary J. Blige of Saddle River joined Red Sox fans under a red umbrella at Sunday's game.

She'd been there before — before Game 1 of the 2013 World Series — but the rainy game this weekend was even more special: it was the last time legendary slugger David "Big Papi" Ortiz would play in the regular season.

No. 34 was honored before the game against the Toronto Blue Jays — who won 2-1 — with a ceremony, and a bridge near the stadium now named after him.

The Red Sox's 2016 season will continue into the playoffs.
