Mahwah's Ridgewood Moving Company will help distribute a portion of the donations to other CFA locations including Englewood, Fairview, Hackensack, Ridgefield, Ringwood and Saddle Brook.
The hearty soups, tuna fish, cold cereals and pork and beans collected by the firm's 11 other properties will be accounted for soon, said Daniel Weixeldorfer, Senior Vice President and Broker Manager of the Saddle River office.
"Our company makes money in all of these communities," said Weixeldorfer, who used social media to promote the third annual food drive. "And if you make money there you have to be able to give back."
Lawrence Inserra — of Inserra Supermarkets — matched the $7,000 cash donations from community members which culminated in a $14,000 purchase of food items from Ramsey's ShopRite on Monday.
The real estate firm collected pet food this year as well since "people — especially seniors — tend to give up own food... before they let their pet go hungry," Weixeldorfer said.
This was also the first year the PPS held the food drive in the fall instead of the spring, which transitioned into its next fundraiser: Toys For Tots.
Bring unwrapped toys to 152 W Saddle River Rd., in Saddle River.
