Wyckoff firefighters who were joined at the two-story Terhune Terrace home by colleagues from Franklin Lakes, Hawthorne, Ho-Ho-Kus, Midland Park, Oakland, Ramsey and Waldwick just after 3:45 p.m. quickly doused the flames, Police Chief Benjamin Fox said.
Investigators were trying to determine the cause, Fox said.
“The home has been declared uninhabitable and the owners and their children will reside with neighbors and friends,” the chief said.
The Wyckoff Volunteer Ambulance Corps tended to them as they arrived home, he said.
