Daniel A. Chaupiz sped off in the early morning hours of Jan. 3 after Wyckoff Patrolman Kyle Ferreira tried to stop him for driving erratically on Wyckoff Avenue, authorities said.
The weather and road conditions forced Ferreira to break off the pursuit before Ridgewood police picked it up.

Officers then tracked Chaupiz to the Walthery Avenue home of Kimberly Alvano, who denied them entry, Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin Fox said at the time.
Officers obtained an arrest warrant and Chaupiz later surrendered at police headquarters, the chief said. Alvano was issued a summons to appear in Municipal Court, he said. That case is still pending.
An indictment returned in April charged Chaupiz with eluding and disobeying an official order.
Chaupiz had a petty criminal history that came to a head when he was charged with masterminding a July 2012 robbery and attack on his lover’s ex-boyfriend.
He was sentenced to four years, as was one of his accomplices, Samer “Martin” Saleh of Waldwick, who wielded a bat and pipe in the attack.
The girlfriend, Margaux H. Tocci of Wyckoff — whose smiling mugshot went viral — was sentenced to a year in the Bergen County Jail.

A fourth participant, Jesse Moscatello, of Oakland, got probation.
Tocci lured her ex-boyfriend to a lot outside Lincoln Elementary School, where Saleh and Mocatello ambushed him.
The victim told a Superior Court judge during sentencing in Hackensack three months ago that he and Tocci had stopped dating but found themselves working together in the same coffee shop in 2012.
They started dating, he said.
The night of July 26, 2012, Tocci offered to take Solis for a ride in her new car, then drove to the empty parking lot outside the school.
As Moscatello and the armed Saleh approached, Solis asked Tocci to bring him back to where she’d picked him up. Instead, she left him there and drove to the other side of the parking lot.
While beating him, the pair smashed his cellphone and took cash from his wallet, then left with Chaupiz and Tocci in the new car.

The victim went to a nearby house, where police were called. He later received stitches and was released from the hospital.
Chaupiz pleaded guilty under a separate indictment for car theft. Luring and conspiracy charges in the Tocci case were downgraded to Municipal Court.
The other three took guilty pleas, as well.
Sentencing for today’s plea by Chaupiz was set for Sept. 19.
