Waldwick High School Warriors dedicate season to Officer Chris Goodell, family to throw first pitch

TRIBUTE: Members of Waldwick Police Officer Christopher Goodell’s family will throw out the ceremonial first pitch tomorrow as the Waldwick High School baseball team dedicates its season to the fallen hero.

All of the Warrior players and coaches will Goodell’s badge number 38 embroidered on their caps.

One of the players will wear the number in his memory.

The game officially begins at 4 p.m. at Waldwick High School.

Goodell, 32, who was working a radar detail in his unmarked cruiser, parked on the shoulder of southbound Route 17, when it was struck by an 18-wheeler driven by a Brooklyn trucker the morning of July 17 last year. The impact instantly killed him.

TRIBUTE: New Jersey Assembly members stood and applauded yesterday after unanimously approving a measure to rename a stretch of Route 17 in Waldwick the Christopher Goodell Memorial Highway in memory of the fallen hero. TRIBUTE: Fallen Police Officers Christopher Goodell of Waldwick and Stephen Petruzzello of Cliffside Park will be on the minds of many of the riders participating in this year’s Policy Unity Tour. The 330-mile North Jersey leg of the ride sets off in East Hanover in Morris County on May 9 and will arrive at the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C. on May 12. READ MORE….
