Jonathan Jachimczyk, 20, stopped long enough on northbound Route 17 man around 11:30 last night to allow four of his occupants out and then hit the gas, knocking the fifth to the ground, Detective Lt. Edward Kane said this afternoon.

Jachimczyk quickly pulled off around Mountain View Avenue and abandoned the car in a residential neighborhood, Kane said.

A Bergen County Police Department K9 unit found him, along with crack cocaine that Kane said was in the vehicle along with packaging materials.

Jachimczyk was being held on $100,000 bail, charged with eluding, obstruction, crack possession with the intent to distribute it and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Upper Saddle River Police Chief Patrick Rotella thanked his colleages in Saddle River and Ramsey, along with the BCPD, for their assistance.
