Ryon Cumberbatch, 29, of Brooklyn posted $25,000 bail and was released Thursday night on the second-degree charge, pending an initial appearance in Bergen County Central Municipal Court on Monday, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.

Goodell didn’t have the lights of the unmarked police car activated when the 18-wheeled, 2012 Freightliner slammed into it on the southbound Route 17 shoulder around 1:20 a.m., instantly killing Goodell, who was on a radar enforcement detail, Molinelli said.
“There was no evidence of pre-impact braking by the truck,” the prosecutor said. “[I]nstead it appears from the roadway evidence that Cumberbatch drove directly into the police car without stopping or attempting to stop.”

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours for Waldwick Police Officer Christopher Goodell are from 2 – 9 p.m. Monday at St. Luke’s Church, 340 North Franklin Turnpike in Ho-Ho-Kus, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment in St. Luke’s Cemetery will follow.
