Unconfirmed reports are that a dog and bird died in the two-alarm blaze, which apparently began on the second floor of the 2½-story Monroe home just before 3:30 a.m.
Wyckoff firefighters were joined by their colleagues from Allendale, Ho-Ho-Kus, Midland Park, Oakland, Ramsey and Hawthorne. All were released by 6:30 a.m.
Franklin Lakes EMS responded for the victims.
Mahwah and North Haledon companies remained on mutual aid standby.
A water flow alarm sounded at a Franklin Avenue business due to low pressure from the fire.
