Kenneth Arch, 27, remained held on $5,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail today, charged with assaulting police, threatening to kill and resisting arrest.
Arch — whose record includes burglaries and a resisting incident in which an officer was hit by a car — was sitting on a mall couch when police were called around 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.
As the officers tried removing him, the 6-foot-3-inch, 230-pound Arch “became combative, kicking tables and chairs and spitting on the officers,” Ehrenberg said.
They then tried to arrest Arch, who “began to fight and physically resist,” the chief said.
Once they had him subdued, they took Arch to Bergen Regional Medical Center. He was moved to the jail after being medically cleared.
Arch three years ago led police on a search that ended with a chain-reaction car crash as he was being arrested next to a police cruiser.
The string of events began when Saddle Brook and Rochelle Park police, along with the Bergen County Police K-9 unit, responded to an overnight burglar alarm at a Saddle River Court home. READ MORE….
