Despite losing a portion of his leg to diabetes a few years ago, he had a strong will and was determined to serve his community as a Special Police Officer and dispatcher — and was proud of it.

Gregory W. “Goose” Korczak suffered a massive heart attack at his home while preparing for his family’s Easter celebration on Sunday.

Despite efforts from fellow police officers who were there within minutes, as well as aid from ambulance corps members and paramedics, the father of three was pronounced dead at Hackensack University Medical Center at 11 a.m.

“He had such an enormous heart,” said Saddle Brook Police Chief Robert Kugler, whose funeral home is handling the arrangements. “We will miss him deeply and will give him the honor that he and his family deserve.

“He will be laid out in his police uniform and we will provide a most dignified and appropriate sendoff,” the chief said.
