Sgt. Erik Sanders spotted Michael Kunz walking on Center Street, a short walk from the Alder Drive break-in, just before 9 p.m. Saturday, Police Chief Bryan Gurney told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.

He was carrying jewelry and other items taken from the home along with burglary tools, Gurney said.

Responders included Mahwah and Allendale police and members of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Kunz was being held on $20,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and possession of burglary tools. A June 23 court hearing was scheduled.

Besides the no-bail warrant for absconding parole, Kunz was wanted on a Secaucus warrant from 2011, records show.

Gurney asked that anyone with additional information about Kunz or his activities call Ramsey PD: (201) 327-2400.
