In Allendale, cars were abandoned in railroad underpasses at West Crescent and West Orchard avenues (photo, right).
Firefighters Chris Rago and Patrick Varsolona rescued three victims from their fully submerged mini-van during the post-storm flooding.
A Norwood police officer dove into an overflowing creek after a motorist got out of her sinking car and went under (SEE: Norwood police officer rescues woman after car plunges into overflowing creek).
Trees fell on homes and vehicles in Waldwick.
Flooding closed all lanes of Route 17 southbound at the Saddle River/Waldwick border were closed for a stretch.
One motorist had to be rescued by Upper Saddle River firefighters. Route 17 was finally cleared by 8 p.m.

In Ridgewood, the overflowing HoHoKus Brook flooded the Village Hall/Ridgewood Public Library parking lot, as well as the artificial turf athletic fields at Ridgewood High School, Maple Park and Stevens Field (SEE BELOW).
Five vehicles in the village lot were heavily damaged — one of them reportedly belonging to a library employee whose first day on the job was today.
Several flooded streets, including Linwood Avenue, were closed.
Damage to Village Hall itself was minimal; water entered at an overhead door on the north side of the building.
Village firefighters assisted with the subsequent cleanup.
