The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Fatal Accident Investigation Unit was at the intersection of Godwin Avenue and Cottage Street, where the victim was struck shortly before 7:30 p.m. by a blue Lexus (photo below) driven by a 66-year-old Ho-Ho-Kus man.

No summonses immediately were issued to the driver, who was brought to Ho-Ho-Kus police headquarters along with his passenger. The SUV presumably was being impounded.

Godwin Avenue was closed in both directions between Lake and Rea Avenues as members of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification took photos.

Midland Park police and Ridgewood police, firefighters and EMS all responded to the scene, on the border of the two towns. A paramedic unit from The Valley Hospital also responded.

Wyckoff police assisted in patroling Midland Park.
