Pedestrian couple hit by car get summonses from Ramsey police

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A couple hit by a car while crossing the street after walking down the middle of the road last night were each given summonses by Ramsey police for not using a crosswalk.

Neither the 23-year-old Upper Saddle River man nor the 22-year-old Mahwah woman was seriously injured when they were clipped by a a two-door Honda on West Main Street near Erie Plaza around 11:20 p.m., Police Chief Bryan Gurney said.

However, the man was taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, the chief said.

The driver, a 46-year-old Ramsey man who immediately stopped after his car bumped the pair, Gurney said.

Ramsey police and ambulance workers and paramedics from The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood all responded, the chief said.
