‘Operation Reassurance': Police protecting seniors

If you’re concerned about a parent who is 55 or older, call your local police department and sign him or her up for the “Operation Reassurance” program. It will give you a level of security that could make a huge difference someday.

Waldwick resident Doris Wagner relies on “Operation Reassurance,” headed in town by Police Sgt. Frank Paccione.

The program requires the participant to call into police headquarters by a prearranged time each day. If he or she doesn’t, an officer will try to get hold of the person.

If there’s no answer, an officer is sent to the house.

Waldwick has one of the more successful “Operation Reassurance” programs. Police also celebrate with a holiday luncheon for all of the subscribed seniors.

Anyone in Waldwick who is interested in signing up, call Sgt. Frank Paccione at 201.652.5700.

Or simply stop in and ask to speak to the sergeant.

The program is free.
