Newark man tells federal judge he made sex videos, photos of girl in tractor-trailer cab

BEYOND BERGEN: A Newark man admitted today in federal court that he conned a young girl into sex that he took videos and photos of in the cab of a tractor-trailer.

Pedro Rios, 59, pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography for five separate incidents from March 2008 through November 2011.

He also admitted possessing child pornography when he was arrested in February of 2013.

Rios, who will be required to register as a sex offender, was scheduled for a July 7 sentencing.

U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman credited special agents of the FBI Newark Division’s Child Exploitation Task Force, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, and the N.J. Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory with the investigation leading to today’s plea.

Handling the case for the government are Assistant U.S. Danielle Alfonzo Walsman and Jonathan W. Romankow of Fishman’s Criminal Division in Newark.
