Gene W. Britton Jr., who turns 32 next month, pleaded guilty yesterday to touching the girl’s breasts and vagina under her clothes at someone else’s home this past February.

In exchange for his plea, Assistant Bergen County Prosecutor Kristin DeMarco said authorities were dropping a sexual assault charge and one count of impairing or debauching the morals of a child.

Superior Court Judge John A. Conte scheduled sentencing for March 24. Britton, meanwhile, remains held on $5,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.

As part of his sentence, he will have to be evaluated at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Avenel, not have contact with the victim and register as a sex offender for life under Megan’s Law.

He also could remain confined longer than the three-year prison term if he’s deemed a risk to be a repetitive or compulsive offender, Conte said.

DeMarco told the judge that the girl’s family, who’s been in constant contact with her, was satisfied with the outcome.
