The driver was headed down Spruce Street when he saw the girl on the sled in the street and veered into the oncoming lane, Police Chief Michael Marra told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

“The sled then ran into the right front passenger tire,” the chief said.

The girl’s father picked her up, put her in the truck and the driver headed toward The Valley Hospital, Marra said.

Along the way, the father dialed 911 and was instructed to have the driver pull over at Ridgewood Fire Department headquarters, the chief said.

Ridgewood EMS and Fire Department personnel attended to the youngster, who reportedly had a shoulder injury.

She was then taken by ambulance to The Valley Hospital with what Chief Marra said were non-life-threatening injuries.
