YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A wheelchair-bound group home resident had to be extricated by Midland Park firefighters after the driver of a handicap-accessible overshot an unpaved parking area at a group home owned by the Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat and the vehicle ended up in a ditch.

Besides the driver, at least one wheelchair-confined group home resident was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Damage was minimal to the van, which was removed by a flatbed tow truck.
Responding were Midland Park police and firefighters and Wyckoff police.
