Man, 71, charged with sexually abusing Upper Saddle River girl

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A former Upper Saddle River man who turns 71 this month has been held on $250,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail since Friday, charged with sexually abusing a young girl.

Patrick Henry Gilberts had moved to Gainesville, Florida, where Alachua County Sheriff’s officers arrested him Dec. 19, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said today.

He was arraigned at the jail on Monday.

Gilberts, who is married, is charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and child endangerment, in connection with incidents that Molinelli said occured in October 2009.

The alleged victim went to authorities recently, leading to the arrest in Florida and subsequent extradition of Gilberts to New Jersey on Friday.
