The female driver was run off the road by another motorist at the intersection of Francis Court and Queens Road, off Franklin Turnpike, just after noon, Police Chief James Batelli told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. The 38-year-old woman, who lives in the complex, wasn’t injured, he said.

Five buildings were evacuated, with roughly 150 people moved to the clubhouse, the chief said.

PSE&G closed the gas main and the car was towed with extensive front end damage, Batelli said.

“The gas meters to the building where the accident occurred were extensively damaged,” he said, “so the residents may not have gas service to the building for an extended period of time.:

All of Mahwah’s fire companies responded, assisted by Suffern, with Ramsey, Franklin Lakes, Allendale and Midland Park departments dispatched to the various township stations.
