"All students and staff at Traphagen School are safe," Lt. Douglas Moore said just after noon.

A Highwood Avenue resident told police "someone tried to force their way in but were startled when they found someone home and fled," Moore told Daily Voice.

The school was temporarily locked down while borough police and a Bergen County Sheriff's K-9 unit searched the area, to no avail, he said.
