The images found on several computers at his home included children under 12 years old, Richard D. Rowley admitted when he pleaded guilty to the crimes last July.
Authorities had also accused him of masturbating on a Web cam showing himself to what he believed were children — but were undercover cyber crime investigators from Virginia.
U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman credited special agents of the FBI Newark Division’s Cyber Crime Task Force, as well as Bayonne police and the Orange County (Virginia) Sheriff’s Office for the investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney José R. Almonte of the U.S. Attorney’s Office General Crimes Unit in Newark secured the plea that led to today’s sentence in Trenton on one count of receiving and distributing child pornography.
In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Judge Joel A. Pisano sentenced Rowley to serve five years of
supervised release.
