Ridgewood police grabbed Shain Prefi a block from where the car was damaged on First Street the evening of March 2. Bergen County Police assisted.

Ho-Ho-Kus police impounded Prefi’s black Audi and sent him to the Bergen County Jail on charges of harassment, criminal mischief, threatening to kill and weapons possession.

They then obtained a court order and contacted their Hillsdale colleagues for a search.

At Prefi’s St. Nicholas home, Detective Sgt. Sean Smith, Officer Tom Smith and Detective Adam Hampton reported finding “multiple vials of various types of steroids, as well as various pills [that] were in his possession without a valid prescription,” Officer William Diedtrich said yesterday. “In addition to the steroids the officers also located numerous syringes.”

Prefi was charged with various counts involving anabolic steroids, prescription drugs and hypodermic needles.

A judge added $7,500 bail for the Hillsdale charges to the original $15,000 out of Ho-Ho-Kus.

Prefi posted the $22,500 total bail soon after and was released from the Bergen County Jail the same day.
