Firefighters put down vacant Oakland house blaze

UPDATE: Firefighters tonight quickly put down a blaze in an empty Oakland house that neighbors said was in foreclosure.

Oakland firefighters and EMS workers were joined by their colleagues from Franklin Lakes, Midland Park, Waldwick and Wyckoff at the three-alarm blaze at the Colony on Center Street near Route 287.

The fire began in the attic of the just after 9 p.m. and spread to the back of the house.

An immediate official cause hadn’t been determined.
