FBI: ‘Soft-spoken’ Fair Lawn bank robber had claw hammer

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: The FBI today confirmed CLIFFVIEW PILOT‘s original report that the man who held up a fair Lawn bank Wednesday threatened at least one employee with a claw hammer — as seen in the photo, above, released by the bureau.

The bandit, who hit the Chase Bank branch on Saddle River Road minutes before the 6 p.m. closing, quietly told another employee to stuff an envelope with cash.

He then took the money and ran.

The FBI described him as black, in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5-foot-7 with a thin to medium build and a thin moustache and goatee, and wearing wearing a burgundy sweater, a dark tan hat and sweatpants.
