Father, son burglary duo indicted in Saddle River burglary attempts

ONLY ON CVP: A convicted father/son burglary duo tried planning their work more carefully in Bergen County, authorities said: They wore black coveralls and face masks, packed a gun case with tools that included a sledgehammer, a pry bar and a handful of rocks, and brought night-vision goggles, along with a list of targeted houses.

What they apparently didn’t count on was someone on a tony Saddle River street noticing the North Carolina license plates on their pickup truck.

Jerome and Jerome Shaw Jr. were both indicted in Hackensack this week in connection with a half-dozen attempted break-ins in Saddle River and Mendham as a result of that night’s arrest.

The 10-count indictment also includes counts of conspiracy to commit burglary and illegal weapons possession against the two upper Manhattan men, who have previous burglary convictions out of Nassau County, L.I., records show.

Alerted to the truck by a resident, an Upper Saddle River Police sergeant pulled it over West Saddle River Road just after 1:15 a.m. last Oct. 21.

Both men remain free on $50,000 bail each.
