Both highlight a variety of events countywide this coming weekend.
Fairview’s big night, from 6 to 10 p.m. Sunday at Columbus Park, will include:
- shaving cream battle (3rd-8th grade);
- magicians;
- face painting;
- DJ;
- pumpkin decorating;
- haunted schoolhouse;
- haunted hayrides;
- food & drinks (hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy)
- kids’ goodie bags.
Residents in the area (6th Street, Kamena Street, Cliff Street, 7th Street) are being asked to participate by decorating their homes.
Bergen County will host its first-ever County Fair & Fall Harvest Festival from Thursday through Sunday, with a series of events at Overpeck Park.
What’s billed as a “family-friendly event” will feature carnival rides, games, live music, a “harvest festival” with local agricultural displays and exhibits and a haunted hayride.
Bands performing in Overpeck include Doomsday Diaries, Studio 19 and both the Tenafly and Waldwick Schools of Rock.
Then there’s Saturday’s 1 p.m. kickoff between Don Bosco Prep (USA Today’s 2011’s #1 team) and Bergen Catholic at the Palisades Park Regional Sportsplex in the park. Seating capacity in the stadium is being doubled to 7,500, thanks to temporary bleachers. Another 2,500 people are expected to squeeze in. Admission: $5.
Outside sponsors are covering the cost of the entire festival, county officials said.
