The driver whose car was struck from behind on Crescent Avenue in Waldwick around 10:30 p.m. followed Michael Avakian to the Farm Estates condominium complex, Lt. Douglas Moore said.

Avakian’s Toyota Solaris careened through the Durante Road property and continued into Mahwah, where he was arrested, Moore said.

Waldwick Police Officer Adam Garcia charged the Bergen Community College freshman with leaving the scene of a crash, reckless driving and failing to report a motor vehicle accident. Sgt. Jodi Zuzeck handled the crash investigation and report.
