“[Educators’] Update: Latest Issues & Laws Affecting Students & Schools” begins at 9 a.m. and runs through 1 p.m., Molinelli said in a release this morning.

Scheduled to be discussed during the event, funded through assets seized from criminals:

• current youth trends involving narcotics and alcohol
• schools’ liability in bullying cases
• navigating through the juvenile justice system
• school security and safety issues
• screening of “Active Shooter” video

The winning entries in the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office’s anti-bullying contest, “Don’t Stand By for Bullying,” will be presented for the first time — with the winners present.

Students from throughout the county submitted posters, PowerPoint presentations, and videos depicting on how to combat bullying.

More than 350 school personnel, police officers, and social service professionals from Bergen County are expected.

If you are in any of those lines of work and want to attend, contact Molinelli’s communications director, Maureen Parenta: (201) 226-5509.
