Members of the Northwest Bergen Decon Task Force from Mahwah, Ho-Ho-Kus and Allendale sent trucks to Pure Skin Salon and Spa in the 400 block of Ramapo Valley Road to create the decontamination area in response to the call around 7:30 p.m.

Firefighters from Wyckoff, Midland Park and Ridgewood also responded, as did the Bergen County Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team.

Sources said the business was being fumigated without signs, and that firefighters responding to a tripped alarm were exposed — irritating their throats and skin.

Reports varied of from eight to 15 firefighters affected.
