Coffee Cops: Allendale Police, Citizens Chit Chat

ALLENDALE, N.J. -- Allendale police welcomed civilians for cups of free coffee and other giveaways in exchange for a little conversation.

“I’d say more than 50 people actually stopped to have an extended conversation,” Police Chief George Scherb said after the gathering at the Dunkin Donuts on Allendale Avenue.

Besides the java, police distributed pencils, “Back-to-School” rulers and “Buckle Up” key chains.
