The girl, now 17, spoke last fall with a school counselor who, in turn, called her mother and state child welfare authorities, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said after his Special Victims Unit detectives arrested Louis Tantillo, 50, in October.

During a subsequent interview, she “provided specific details” about what happened during a sleepover, he said.

Tantillo posted $250,000 bail and was freed hours after his Oct. 10 arrest on aggravated assault and child endangerment charges.

The subsequent grand jury investigation added a sexual assault charge and broadened the time period to between September 2008 and June 2010. It also accuses him of impairing the morals of a child.
