Christie Marie Alvino, 30, of Paterson dropped nearly $420 worth of items and ran from the CVS on Fair Lawn Avenue after a store employee stopped her around 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Sgt. Brian Metzler said yesterday.
Less than two hours later, police received another report about Alvino, this one from the Pathmark on Maple Avenue, where she fled with $135 or so worth of items, Metzler said.
With vehicle information provided by store personnel, Detective Paul Donohue arrested Alvino near her home.
She was charged with two counts of shoplifting and ordered held on $2,500 bail in the Bergen County Jail.
Alvino, who was free on bail for shoplifting arrests in Glen Rock and Saddle Brook last month, has a rap sheet that also includes burglaries, thefts, and parole violations.
Last August, Wyckoff police said Alvino removed the keys from the ignition of a friend’s car and couldn’t produce credentials when they stopped her for speeding.
A searched turned up syringes — one in a child’s seat — along with the condoms, 10 boxes of baby formula and six boxes of teeth-whitening strips — worth a combined $872 — that they said had just been shoplifted from a Walgreens in Waldwick.
She was out on bail following arrests in three other towns.
Alvino was charged by Glen Rock police with shoplifting last June, by Fort Lee police three months earlier — also for shoplifting — and by Wyckoff and Midland Park police in December 2013 in connection with counterfeit bills that they said she passed.
Alvino and Paterson resident Joseph J. Nunally produced thousands in counterfeit bills of relatively small denominations that they used to buy heroin and gift cards, authorities said at the time. READ MORE….
