Ridgewood Fire Department personnel assisted in removing the driver from his Honda Accord, and also cleaned up a minor fluid spill caused by the crash, which occurred around 6 o’clock.

The driver was taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood by members of the Ridgewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps with the assistance of hospital paramedics.

The Accord hit the pole so hard that it split it at its base.
