Police were responding to a call of an erratic driver when they found a car that had run off the road and struck a utility police on Cresthaven Road at 1:25 a.m. Saturday, Chief Benjamin C. Fox said.
Christie L. Muirhead, 28, of Lee Court,was released to her father after being issued summonses to appear in Municipal Court on Jan. 21 to answer charges of DWI, reckless driving and refusing to submit to a breath test, the chief said.
Another crash occurred at 9:44 p.m., when a driver on northbound Lafayette Avenue failed to turn at the T intersection at Wyckoff Avenue and crashed his car into a vehicle parked in a driveway, Fox said.
Ryan C. Fells, 36, of Oak Avenue in Midland Park was charged with DWI and reckless driving. He was released to his brother pending a Municipal Court hearing, the chief said.
A 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital the Wyckoff Volunteer Ambulance Corps just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday after having had “an excessive amount” of vodka at a friend’s house that he’d concealed in water bottles, Fox said.
Police responded to a Christmas Eve domestic call on Route 208 and found that an intoxicated 46-year-old Hawthorne man had grabbed his wife’s face during an argument while she was driving, causing minor injuries, the chief said.
He was charged with assault and released.
Just after midnight on Friday, police removed a 23-year-old man from his mother’s home after he punched a window with his fist during an argument, Fox said. No charges were filed, he said.
“As we enter a new year, be mindful of the effects of alcohol to keep yourself and your family safe,” Fox cautioned. “Don’t become a story in a police blotter report.”
