Robert L Sokoloff, who turned 66 a little over a week ago, had explicit online chats with a detective posing as a mother willing to “allow him access to her 8-year-old daughter” for sex, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli.
Molinelli tells his investigators he’d rather they arrest someone who actually shows intent.
Sure enough, as the prosecutor put it: “Sokoloff traveled from his home in Maryland to meet with the presumed mother and 8-year-old daughter to engage in sexual acts, including sexual penetration, with both.”
For obvious reasons, he wouldn’t disclose the exact meeting place. Investigators have arrangements with particular establishments to avoid mishaps; they wouldn’t want the location of those sites shared among predators.
Sokoloff, who lives in Silver Spring, is being held on $250,000 bail at the Bergen County Jail. He is due in Superior Court in Hackensack tomorrow for a first appearance on charges of attempted aggravated sexual assault and attempted child endangerment.
