Another chain-reaction crash on troublesome Route 17 south sends one to hospital

YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST: A chain-reaction crash on southbound Route 17 in Ridgewood tonight sent one driver to the hospital and damaged two vehicles so badly that they needed to be towed.

Village police, firefighters and EMS workers all responded to the 5:30 p.m. left-lane crash just south of Paramus Road.

The driver of a red 4-door Mercedes was taken to The Valley Hospital with what authorities said were injuries from the air bag deploying.

A Bergen County Sheriff’s officer assisted with traffic control at the scene.

Heavy delays on Route 17 extended past Hollywood Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus.
