“Realizing that our police officers need to know that the communities they serve do support them” was the reason, said Allen, of Trinity Episcopal Church, who began the tradition a few years ago to coincide with the Feast of St. Michael, the patron saint of police.
“It’s personal, which made it a more powerful experience,” Police Chief George Scherb said.
