60th arrest for homeless man Port Authority police said punched woman at bus terminal

BEYOND BERGEN: Port Authority police said a homeless man who punched a woman at the mid-Manhattan bus terminal over the weekend had been arrested 59 times before.

Officers chased down and caught 41-year-old Robert Simmons after he punched the 36-year-old woman, whom he knows, and threatened her with a box cutter, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said.

The weapon was recovered, Pentangelo said.

Simmons, who records show has been in and out of prison four times in the past 25 years, was charged with assault and menacing, he said.
