Believing that Xhoreno “Joe” Shehu was dating the mother of his 6-month-old child, the victim told police that he agreed to meet his rival Wednesday night in the parking lot of St. Phillips Church off Saddle River Road.

No sooner did they get out of their cars than Shehu knocked the other man down with one punch, surveillance video shows.

Then he repeatedly kicked him, Police Chief Robert Kugler told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.

“It seems one of the kicks broke his orbital bone,” Kugler said.

He also smashed the victim’s cellphone, the chief said.

The victim went to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, where Saddle Brook police got a call from his girlfriend, Kugler said.

The Albanian-born Shehu — a 2013 Saddle Brook High School graduate who was on the school wrestling team — had been free on bail after township police said he and two other teens tried to rob a deliveryman in August 2013.

The deliveryman, who spoke only Mandarin, hit the gas after being pistol-whipped, sending his car bouncing off three others. With him in the 2010 Toyota was his 17-year-old son, who told police what happened (SEE: Saddle Brook police arrest 3 teens in armed deliveryman robbery).

Shehu remained held on $50,000 bail today following his arrest yesterday on aggravated assault charges.
