Hudson was close behind, with 220,966, according to statistics released early this afternoon by the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management.

The leader was Middlesex County, in Central Jersey, with 273,407, followed by neighboring Monmouth (229,574) and Ocean (256,399) along the Shore.

Passaic County was largely spared, with only 94,876 reported customers without power.

No surprise that Salem (5,375), Gloucester (7,234) and Cumberland (8,085) combined would have still been by far the lowest total.
